Wizards and Muggles Descend on Kinokuniya For Harry Potter Gathering

Everyone should know this by now: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is not just for kids.

For one thing, many of the young 'uns are now already grown up and still retain their love for the best-selling book series by J.K. Rowling. And for another, many many adults are seriously into the Harry Potter universe right from the beginning!

Red Dot Diva readily admits she is one of these "older kids".

Yesterday afternoon, Kinokuniya held a Harry Potter Party where there was story-telling and fun activities related to the books. Red Dot Diva's friend and "older kid" Jas swooped in on her broom to the bash, and she conjured up this report of all the wizardy that transpired that day!

The Saturday afternoon Harry Potter Party held at Kinokunia saw a healthy mix of fans both of student-ages and professor-ages.

The storytelling started with the first book, with the host reading snippets of the beginning, as baby Harry was left on the doorstep of 4 Privet Drive, and enchanting us with the exciting scene of the Sorting Hat, as the crowd cheered along with hollers of “HAT!” at every appropriate pause, and excitedly reciting the House names of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin!

The short but exciting interactive reading was quickly followed by a friendly competition for Best Dressed, as the organizers chose out some of the most impressive wizard cosplays for us to pick our winners.

Here are the pretty finalists:

A fan favourite bad boy Draco Malfoy, two sisters who came as the adorable Luna Lovegood and pretty Hermione, and last but not least, a Fawkes the Phoenix cosplay! (Red Dot Diva's note: OH MY! That is a fantastic Luna Lovegood cosplay, alright!)

The loudest cheers quite deservedly went to the Luna Lovegood cosplay and she went home with a copy of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: The Illustrated Edition", which Jim Kay had created with over 100 stunning illustrations!

Meanwhile, the rest of the finalists went home with a very cool TV remote control wand. The publishers had also prepared a pretty cool The Daily Prophet newspaper headline for us to take Sirius Black style WANTED photos.

Truly, this is the moment that I regretted not being fast enough to buy the iPhone 6S with its Live Photos feature!

Here’s yours truly.

Helping new friends get that perfect shot in the frame!

Keep an eye out for more Harry Potter events in July/August when the script of "Harry Potter And The Cursed Child" is set to be released!

Thanks for the write-up, Jas!

Red Dot Diva thinks that next time someone should give out some chocolate frogs at the party. Or better still, can someone organize a Yule Ball in December?
