HBO Asia Premieres Carrie Fisher & Debbie Reynolds Documentary "Bright Lights" 8 January, 9 AM

It has been a difficult holiday season for Star Wars fans with the passing away of Carrie Fisher on 27 December 2016. She was well-loved and admired for her roles as Princess/ General Leia in the Star Wars movies, and her death was unexpected.

Worse still, a day later, her 84-year-old mother and Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds, passed away of a suspected stroke. The two women live next door to each other and were very close.

According to Carrie Fisher's brother Todd Fisher, his mother had said that "she really wanted to be with Carrie" just before she died. Debbie Reynolds is best remembered singing and dancing beside A-listers Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor in the movie musical "Singing in the Rain".

In memory of the his mother and sister, Todd Fisher shared a heartfelt drawing on Twitter a few days ago:

To celebrate their lives and achievements, HBO Asia (StarHub TV Ch 601) will premiere the Carrie Fisher & Debbie Reynolds documentary called "Bright Lights" on 8 January 2017 (Sunday), 9 AM Singapore time. The show airs exclusively on HBO, at the same time as the U.S. There will be an encore on the same day at 9 PM.

A hint of their often tumultuous but deeply loving relationship can be deciphered in Carrie Fisher's semi-autobiographical book "Postcards From the Edge" and its 1990 movie adaptation, starring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine.

The documentary "Bright Lights", which features vintage and treasured family films as well as vérité footage, will shed even more light on the intimate bond between the two Hollywood stars.

Directed by Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens, "Bright Lights" has already received critical acclaim in events like 2016 Cannes Film Festival, the Telluride Film Festival and the New York Film Festival.
