After a few months of renovation works, Kinokuniya's flagship store at Ngee Ann City opened its new frontage yesterday.
The book store - which has a large and loyal following - acquired the tenancy of the adjacent space which was previously occupied by a restaurant. Kinokuniya Main Store now takes up about 38,000 square feet of retail space, expanding its Level 4 space for more books, more collectibles and more goodies!
About 20 eager fans waited at the main entrance yesterday morning for the shutters to scroll up. Red Dot Diva was there as well to be one of the few to experience the spanking new area. Her verdict? It certainly made the store looked more spacious, fresher and was easy on the eye.
When Kinokuniya was asked to scale down its retail area nearly 2.5 years ago, Red Dot Diva felt that at times, the browsing and display areas felt too claustrophobic. With the new main entrance, she felt that the comfortable walkway made the shop looked brighter and even more welcoming.
Larger shelves were installed which allowed for more books to be displayed.
There were also four pod-like booths where customers can check out the store's picks and items on display.
Red Dot Diva found it very tempting indeed to spend more time in the shop. It was like a gloriously massive bubble for bookworms!

While Kinokuniya is celebrating its new store front and 90 years of bookselling, privilege card members can grab a goodie bag from the Membership Counter from 10 AM to 11 AM, till Sunday 12 March, while stocks last!
Red Dot Diva managed to get a goodie bag yesterday and inside was a colouring book, a pen set, an FCBD Iron Man 3 Heroclix, and a 25% voucher redeemable when you make a $200 purchase in a single receipt. In addition, card members can get a 20% discount off store wide for all customers from now till 12 March!
That makes this weekend a great time to gather your family and friends together, head to Kinokuniya at Ngee Ann City, admire the new frontage and feed your bookworm needs all at one go!
